v1.1.0:
Blue Pearl, Yellow Pearl, and Pink Pearl are present in the Diamond Throne Room at Gem Homeworld as Steven finishes constructing the new Era 3 regulations. Yellow Pearl states in a chat that there are still two Light Prisms operational and that she has tried unsuccessfully to contact two Gems named Pyrope and Demantoid. Steven opposes to Blue Pearl's threat to send an army to forcefully grab the prisms if they do not respond. As Pink Pearl inquires about the best course of action, Steven says that he has the perfect crew for the job.
Steven delivers the Crystal Gems to the two Garnets' Palace of Light. He attempts to introduce himself to Demantoid, but Pyrope interrupts him and says, "Who are you talking to?" Pyrope swiftly notifies them that the palace is closed after instantly recognizing who he is, and the two escape. The Crystal Gems come across Hessonite's Prism again as they consider how to enter; this time, he has not only changed appearance but also taken on the name George.
After showing them how to access Prism-protected doors, George informs them that the rest of the palace is locked and requires rainbow keys to enter. Hessonite, who has become the gems' "weird ally," "helpfully" calls attention to this. The gems decide to follow Demantoid after hijacking a comlink from a previous colony in progress. Lapis Lazuli joins them in one of Yellow Diamond's mining colonies, while Pearl stays behind to discover more about Demantoid.
At Crystal System Colony 215, it is discovered that Demantoid has been releasing Light constructs across the colony, causing some Peridots' labor to be disrupted. One of said Peridots, Peri Pal informs Steven that the Peridots know due to the commlinks before Demantoid cut all communication from Homeworld and prohibited any interaction with Steven, unfortunately, the Light constructs from her Prism are causing damage to their buildings which makes the Crystal Gems help them and Pearl informs Steven that Demantoid and Pyrope after hearing of Era 3 saw it as a chance to make their own empires due to the power vacuum caused. After defeating Light constructs in command of a drill, they discover Demantoid has already gone to a colony she owns.
They learn in Demantoid's universe that she had been terraforming with Light constructions instead of Bismuths. Because they can no longer accomplish their task, the Bismuths are at a loss for what to do. Steven suggests that they should have their own government because of the freeing consequences of Era 3's new rules. Along the way, they come upon Bismuth, who reveals that he has developed a Prism Containment Chest to neutralize both Prisms. They stumble to Demantoid, who has adjusted her Prism after battling a number of constructs.
In response to Steven's attempts to persuade her to submit, Demantoid answers that Steven's Era 3 represents an opportunity for them to build their own empire now that he has proved that the Diamonds are no longer required. Following her defeat, Bismuth attempts to access the box but is assaulted by a Demantoid until Steven steps in and throws his shield in her way. The Bismuths decide to topple Demantoid, much to the chagrin of the Crystal Gems, but she escapes with the box. They decide to follow her to Blue Colony 4, which is overseen by Pyrope.
As the Gems arrive, the colony is in ruins, and they are surprised when the local Jades look eager to converse with them. According to one Jade, the Palace of Light used to reside on the planet, but they were barred from receiving broadcasts or leaving. During their investigation of the colony, the party encounters a second squad of light constructs who have disguised themselves as Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, and Steven to confront them. They then went to the Palace of Light, where they unlocked all the doors and confronted Pyrope.
When the Crystal Gems entered Pyrope's house after dismantling all the obstacles, she was sitting in her own room. They try to persuade Pyrope to quit using the prisms as Demantoid arrives and begins arguing with her. As Bismuth discovers the box, she tells Steven that she will try to get it before Hessonite arrives to "help" them. Hessonite brags to the other Garnets about how humble she is before being struck, which causes her scarf and visor to come off. Pyrope is taken aback, and Demantoid advises that Hessonite join them while there is still time, but Hessonite declines. Demantoid reports that she was chatting to George, whom she captures and combines with the other two prisms.
After fighting the two Garnets and their Prism monster before being silenced by Demantoid, Steven persuades George to fight back. As a result, Hessonite confronts her and instructs George to stop using him as a weapon when confronting her. When George defuses the monster, Steven and George are reunited. Because her prism is kept away, Demantoid loses her limb enhancers. She blames Pyrope, who accuses her once more. Hessonite seizes control of the palace and promises to return it to gemkind. After instructing Bismuth to release the other prisms, George persuades them that the three of them are now free. After Pearl informs Steven that there are still colonies that need to be liberated, the Crystal Gems resolve to stay in Homeworld for a time to aid in the establishment of Era 3.
During the credits, a mystery green ship similar to the one used in "Squaridot" emerges, and a giggle similar to Peridots' is heard before it vanishes.
v2.0:
In Chapter 3, Pyrope's Planet receives an unusual signal. George determines the source of the signal to be Crystal System Colony 215. Returning to the alien plant will reveal a new level, numbered 1-10. When the Gems arrive, they encounter a stressed Peridot, and the two of them enter the Kindergarten, where they meet Squaridot, the source of the message. The diamond becomes agitated and demands Steven hand over the Prism before leaving awkwardly.
Peridot admits to letting Squaridot escape her bubble in order to bring the Crystal Gems together. She also follows Squaridot to Hessonite's spaceship, where the Gems confront her.
The warship's power is switched off, and Steven and his friends enter Squaridot through the closing doors. They eventually get to the ship's controls and confront Squaridot in combat, but it turns out to be a Squaribot hoax. Once Peridot hacks the system and causes it to crash, the true Squaridot arrives and seizes control of the computer. The crew is fighting her and her Squaribot army.
In the final battle, Peridot defeats Squaridot and successfully hacks the system to liberate herself from Squaridot's grip. She was only seeking for Hessonite and has no recall of what happened. As the ship's emergency protocol was initiated, Squaridot was commanded by the computer software to locate the Prism. After Steven extends an invitation to visit Beach City, Squaridot grudgingly thanks the Gems and learns about Era 3.
v3.0:
When Peridot informed the Gems about the distress signal they had received, Garnet agreed that it appeared to be coming from "the same black hole that out Yellow Colony 4". They should avoid that location, but Peridot is getting strange readings from it, and Steven was curious enough to investigate. Steven yelled, "Whoa," to which Peridot replied, "Whoa is right." Nevertheless, Steven initially shouts when he hears Lion and Connie arriving at the Palace of Light's door. Connie has finished her studies and is ready to set the universe free. She discovers the Prism mission, runs into George, and acts astounded. She was intrigued by the setting and invited Steven to join her for a walk and a discussion, which he gladly accepted. As a result, Steven and the Gems travel to Yellow Colony 4's black hole.
